How to Hire the Fig Tree Gallery

Fig Tree Galleries is located under two magnificent fig trees at 31-35 Normanby Street Yeppoon. Keppel Coast Arts Council has been licensed by Livingstone Shire Council to manage the Gallery and the Workshop space and manage all bookings.

Dimensions: 67m²
Running metres: 15m @ 2600mm from floor, 9.5m of hanging @ 3000mm from floor level, 8m portable wall space.
​Hanging Wire: 40 x 20m long clear hangers and mini hooks
Hanging System: Gallery Systems Australia Standard Hanging System
Lighting: 15 x white lamp wands each with 7W lamps

Exhibition Proposals &
Assessment Criteria

Proposed exhibitions will be assessed with the following criteria in mind:

delivery & collection of work

The gallery does not have sufficient space to store artworks longterm. Artworks need to be delivered and collected on the designated bump in and bump out dates unless previously organised with the Curator. Packaging material is to be removed by the artists after the exhibition has been installed.

INSTALL & DEMOUNT

-Existing hanging system must be used
-Use of plinths, portable walls etc is by arrangement with the Curator
- Use of materials such as blue tack is allowed as long as any marks on the walls are removed on completion of the exhibition
-Framed works must be ready to hang with 2 x D Rings and wires
- unframed works and works on paper may use. magnet system if appropriate (must be supplied by the artist)
-plinths or cabinets may be available for use, subject to availabilty
-other specific display items such as busts for jewellery etc are to be provided by the artist
- electrical equipment for digital and installation works must be tested & tagged

insurance

Artists must have their own Public Liability Insurance- minimum $20m. Artwork and art materials are stored at the Artists' own risk.

things to think about

Curator & Gallery Volunteer Team

Hire of the Gallery includes support and guidance from the Curator who will have final say in all matters relating to the hanging of exhibitions. Also access to our FIGS team (Friends In the Gallery) who will be available for gallery sitting support as required.
-Liaise with Keppel Coast Arts and supply promotional information, including appropriate logos and branding
-OH&S procedures should be followed
