The Yeppoon Ukulele Movement began as an idea to share music with other likeminded folk. The mission of Yeppoon Ukulele Movement is to provide a fun, friendly, inclusive and supportive environment for people of all ages, race & gender to come and play the ukulele, to sing, to make friends and socialise with and for the love of music.
YUM practices are 2nd (CDC garage) and 2nd Wednesday night 7-9 pm Room B CDC above Radio NAG.
As described by Boris Snikenj, one of our founders. “There seemed to be only those that could and did play around the traps and those who just wanted to enjoy the music and playing at whatever level could be achieved. The uke is the perfect instrument for people of any age or ability to learn to play. I found that I could show anyone a few chords and within quarter of an hour the spark of fun was into their eyes as they too created music.”

Jam Program
The Yeppoon Ukulele Movement jam programs on the 2nd and 4th Sunday and 2nd Wednesday upstairs CDC garage. These sessions follow a pattern, where we play a surprise packet of songs led by experienced musicians. Members and visitors are encouraged to showcase their talents at jams through open mic performances.
If you’re new to the ukulele, there is a beginners’ class half an hour before the start of the jams. We play, share & jam a diverse range of music from traditional ukulele & folk tunes to disco, pop & heavy metal.
Hope to see you there. BYO friends & ukuleles!
For those of you who would like to ‘try before you buy’, we have a small number of ukuleles at the venue that we lend to people for the session. (Kindly Donated By Green Bros Music in Rockhampton).
