Oct Line up
Headlining the Oct 2017 Creek Sessions is Brad Butcher, the notable honest, hardworking, genuine, mate, has been nominated for a stack of awards in the past 4 years for his songwriting ~ 3 Queensland Music Awards (2012, 13′ & 16′) | Finalist for the APRA Professional Development Award (2013) | Finalist for the CMC New Oz Artist of the Year Award (2013) among others ~ he’s toured Australia and the United States of America multiple times and has graced the stage and supported some of the finest artists to rise from Australian soil, such as: Troy Cassar-Daley, Busby Marou, Diesel, Mark Seymour and Shane Nicholson.
Other artists include the talented poet, Kristin Hannaford, who will deliver contemporary wilderness musings and ecopoetics. Her readings will include a selection of work, both vintage and bespoke, accompanied by the hushed guitar stylings and soundscapes, and Tim and Shaune who are The Irregulars - a Capricorn Coast guitar duo drawing on a wide variety of influences. Intricate acoustic guitar work and gentle harmonies. Think Neil Finn, James Taylor and Neil Young reading the Bhagavad Gita in an Irish bar!
Another great duo, The Short Fall, the singer-songwriter siblings Angelo & Ryan Conway who struck gold in November 2013 with their debut single ‘The Meadow’, winning the annual MusicOz Australian Independent Music Award for best acoustic singer-songwriter. Since the release of State of Mind they have toured & performed relentlessly across Queensland, and are now in the process of writing songs for the new play, Monsoon, a long-waited new record.
A key highlight for The Creek Sessions this coming Sunday is the first ever view of a scene from the play, Monsoon; the story of a boy and a girl – twins – two forces that must, by all means, be kept apart.
Director, Travis Hock, who is engaged with rehearsals is confident the play is coming together in the way he planned. “The cast has really grasped an understanding of the script, it is all coming together and this scene that I refer to as Confessions on a jetty is a focus on old Sam, played by Jesse Warren, who is dealing with a complicated wound that he has had to deal with through his life, wondering if this torment in ongoing or is it something more ... ”.
The Creek Sessions will be held at the KCA ARTSHIP overlooking Fig Tree Creek in Yeppoon from 2pm on October 22.
