Outstanding lineup for the third edition of The Creek Sessions with performances by talented artists including our very own local blues-rock band the Saltwater Citizens, Rockhampton based music artist, James Langan, Sydney based multidisciplinary artist Scott Sandwich, and Australia’s epic live music songwriter and slide guitarist, 8Ball Aitken. The unique performances will include performance art, rock, blues, swamp & Americana.
Performance artist, Scott Sandwich (not his real name), was the featuredartist at the 2013 Sydney Writers’ Festival, and the 2013 Queensland Poetry Festival. He won the Woodford Poetry Slam in 2011, and was a finalist at the Australian Nimbin Performance Poetry World Cup in 2011 and 2012, and a finalist in the Australia Poetry Slam in 2010. He has released four EPs, of spoken word, storytelling, and music, including Heartbreak AirBnb (2017), Up Until Rosebud (2016), … Sometimes I Still Do (2014) and The Feast & The Beast (2012).
James Langan has been playing music live since he was 14. He has played guitar and sung in many bands over the years, including Shortcutwith fellow Eagle Rox member Gary Quinlan. James was also a professional solo performer for 10 years, has written many jingles, and won numerous song-writing awards.
Yeppoon’s very own Saltwater Citizens have quickly become recognised for their unique song writing and performance standards. This classicfunky blues/ retro rock band has rocked the local arts scene for several yearswith performances including OMFest, Pie Ally Blues and many more. Singer song writer, Arran McArthur (vocal, guitar), leads the band who includes Morgan Ells (lead guitar) well-known local musician, Kate Mahood (bass) and Marco Van Beest (drums).
Headlining the Creek Sessions in April will be 8Ball Aitken. 8 Ball is an Australian singer, songwriter and slide guitarist. 8 Ball plays country, blues, swamp & Americana music and he is notable for his fusion of country music with the genres of Australian blues and roots music. His music and entertainment skills ensure a fun packed gig. With songs like ‘She’s Going To Mexico, I’m Going To Jail’, ‘Shut The Front Door’, and ‘Seven Bucks An Hour In A Chicken Suit’ you know you are in for a rockin’ fun gig.

TOM HOGANScott Sandwich (Tom Hogan) is a writer and performer, exploring authenticity and mythology through comedy and collaboration. He is an esteemed and prolific performance poet, and his work The Kalevala (According To Scott Sandwich) has featured in galleries around Finland, Sweden, Norway, Lithuania and Benin.
He produces the ongoing digital project and podcast Obscure Music History. He was featured artist at the 2013 Sydney Writers’ Festival, and the 2013 Queensland Poetry Festival. THE creek sessionsThe Creek Sessions are a relaxed Sunday afternoon “sessions” held at the KCA Artship on the banks of Fig Tree Creek in Yeppoon. This collaborative, innovative and supportive arts and performance program presents original and new work and supports emerging artists through skills development and performance expression.
The program scheduled over nine 'Sessions' between July 2017 and April 2020 will feature musicians, poets, authors, actors, multimedia artists and performers. |
